The First News MIL Secondary Framework for ages 11-14 has been developed in partnership with MILA, and built around MILA's five aspirations ('domains'): • be informed • be empowered • be healthy • be socially conscious • be connected Under each domain, a list of I know/I can statements set out what it means for a young person to be media and information literate in that area – building on the skills and competencies from the First News MIL Framework (primary). The TeachKit schemes of work have been designed to ensure that all statements are addressed over the course of a year through clear learning objectives – and the fortnightly news-based lessons are also mapped back to the framework.
