Robot Surgeon Operates On A Pig

Researchers at Johns Hopkins University have been training their Smart Tissue Autonomous Robot (STAR) for years, teaching it how to perform a ‘laparoscopic surgery’ – a tough operation for humans, where a surgeon has to stitch intestines (guts) back together very carefully.

Researchers said that “the slightest hand tremor or misplaced stitch” can lead to serious problems for a patient, but they say STAR “excelled” at the job.
