Could YOU run the country?

A new website gives you the chance to try your hand at taking charge of the UK! Are you up to the job?

MyUK is a free online learning activity, to encourage young people to get more interested in politics.

As a player, you are given a pretend five-year term as Prime Minister. You can choose your party’s name, create your own avatar, appoint your friends as your Cabinet Ministers and even design the door to your number 10 Downing Street!

Once you’ve formed your Cabinet, you can decide on the laws you want to pass to run your country... but first you have to convince Parliament. You’ll even be able to see how popular your decisions are with the public and in the press.

In the Prime Ministerial hot-seat, you might want to bring in ‘The Pavement Rage Bill’ for a fast lane on pavements or a ‘Rowdy Train Carriage Bill’ for special carriages on trains for people who want to talk loudly on mobile phones or play music.

What laws would you like to pass? Do you think you’d make a good Prime Minister?

How far would you go to save your dog? Vote on our poll at www.firstnews.co.uk/polls to tell us what YOU think!

I think I would be quite good at running the country and (hopefully) I would make all the right decisions about things! =0) I'm going to go on that website! It sounds really good!

Wow! I would love to that and I bet I'd do a great job.

That's a great idea! I'd love to try it out becaus I've always dreamed of being Prime Minister when I'm older but then I want to do other things that I won't be able to do if I am PM.

I'll do it - I've always wanted to be involved with politics - I think I'd do a good job!

It sounds like a great site, and I am already interested in politics so it will be loads of fun for me, and it will be good for kids that aren't as interested in politics, I know a lot of people like that. :)

I think that it is a very good idea for kids to get interested in it because it is rare in kids. I want to become a judge when I am older, but with everything going on, and my opinions and views of things even my mum and family said that instead of becoming a judge, go for Prime Minister! :)

I don't think so because i don't have much experience.Though if i was i would consider what the groups of people wanted and find a combined solution .

I would like to think that I would be a good prime minister but it must be really difficult and no PM has been perfect so I am not too sure...

I've always dreamed of being Prime Minister when I'm older

  • soso (Age 11) wrote on Saturday, 24 September 2011 @ 16:11

It is my dream to become PM, as well as other things. Everyone says I am an amazing speaker( and writing my on speeches) I love debating and I think I would make all the right descisions. I have to try out that website

  • sweetcandy (Age 10) wrote on Saturday, 24 September 2011 @ 17:19

I don't think I would be able to run the country - not many people will be able to. It is a really hard job and we should appreciate the people who do it more.

  • ojn9 (Age 10) wrote on Sunday, 25 September 2011 @ 09:02

that is a brill idea-helps children learn while they are having fun!

  • Mirri04 (Age 13) wrote on Sunday, 25 September 2011 @ 13:10

Awesome!I'm going to try it out now...:)

  • ChooChoo (Age 12) wrote on Sunday, 25 September 2011 @ 18:03

I think that it's a good really good idea: it has an element from the games kids play online and gets you to think a lot more about things. I'd never be any good at running the country but I wouldn't mind trying out that website.

  • millieboo (Age 10) wrote on Monday, 26 September 2011 @ 17:34

I have joined MyUK because I think it is a brilliant idea, and it will get children more intrested in politics, and it is also fun. You also learn how to get people intrested in a new law/way to do something.

  • sambarose2 (Age 11) wrote on Monday, 26 September 2011 @ 17:34

I think it will teach children in a fun informative way. I think I would be quite good at running the country ecause (hopefully) I would make all the right decisions on climate change, the enviroment, public affairs,I think thats what its called anyway!) and many other things. The thing is though, i'm not really sure i'd WANT to rule the country, because it is an exedingly hard job! =0)

  • Cescychops (Age 13) wrote on Monday, 26 September 2011 @ 17:49

I would love to run the country. My priorities would be too donated money to the people who really need it all over the world and try to get every ingle child into education

  • Dragonite (Age 13) wrote on Monday, 26 September 2011 @ 19:16

I think that the MyUK website is a brilliant idea and it teaches kids about how a prime minister's time as the head of the country pans out!

  • PinkBoden (Age 14) wrote on Tuesday, 27 September 2011 @ 07:35

That's a very good idea because it helps get children into politics. I'd like to think I could run the country but I don't know if I'd be able to! :)

  • CHERUB15 (Age 13) wrote on Monday, 3 October 2011 @ 19:52

I think I would be OK, but it would require a lot of thought! It gets people to think its not as easy as it looks!

  • gleerocks (Age 11) wrote on Saturday, 8 October 2011 @ 19:09

It's a good idea, and maybe it will get kids more interested in things that adults are interested in, so that when they grow up they have a better view of the world they live in.

  • Chatbox10 (Age 14) wrote on Saturday, 8 October 2011 @ 21:06

This is a really good idea, but in my opinion, I probably wouldn't be very good as I wouldn't be able to make such big decisions or would be too ruled by my heart!

  • spicegal16 (Age 12) wrote on Thursday, 13 October 2011 @ 19:12

People say I am good at making decisions so I think I could do it but I really want to be a journalist...

  • Laurakat1 (Age 15) wrote on Wednesday, 2 November 2011 @ 16:22

Sadly, I don't think I would be able to run the country because you get put on a lot of pressure so I don't think I would be able to handle it! I think I am quite a smart person but I don't think I would be able to do something as challenging as being Prime Minister!

  • monstermog (Age 12) wrote on Thursday, 5 January 2012 @ 16:06

It is a great idea for children because we are the adults of the future so soon these desisions might be in our hands!
