X Factor finalist Kerry McGregor dies from cancer

X Factor finalist Kerry McGregor, who starred in the series of the show won by Leona Lewis, has died from cancer age 37.

The singer sadly lost her battle against bladder cancer yesterday. She had been sick for two years but had been having chemotherapy to try to beat the disease.

X Factor judge Simon Cowell and her former X Factor mentor Sharon Osbourne used Twitter to express their condolences:

Simon Cowell tweeted: "I just heard the sad news about Kerry McGregor. I really admired Kerry and my thoughts now go out to all of her family and friends."

Sharon Osbourne tweeted: "So sad about Kerry McGregor's passing. Much love and respect to her and her family."

Kerry McGregor starred in the 2006 series of the show. The Scottish singer performed from a wheelchair because she had been paralysed in an accident when she was 13.
