A stunt actor working on the new broadway show, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark has been seriously injured after plummeting 30ft whilst performing one of the superheroes' infamous moves in New York.

With just seven minutes before the end of the preview show, Christopher Tierney performed one of Spider-Man's infamous leaps and as he did so, his harness snapped, resulting in him falling almost the entire height of the stage in to the orchestra pit below.

Tierney miraculously survived the fall and was immediately rushed to hospital and taken to the intensive care unit.

Shockingly the show does not officially open until February 2011 and yet this is the fourth major accident to occur during preview shows. The accident has resulted in the show being investigated by federal safety chiefs.

Tierney is now walking again and will reportedly be returning to the show as soon as he is able.

Take a look at the video below for a behind the scenes look at the new broadway show, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark.
