Find out what a day in the life of the RSPCA is like
By RSPCA's Jude Clay
We've been really busy at the moment. Lots of cute cats and kittens are looking for new homes! RSPCA branches are full of felines desperate to find new owners. The cats are in the charity’s care after being abandoned, found as strays or given up by their previous owners.
Some of the centres in England and Wales are looking after more cats than ever before!
Since the start of 2009, 21 cats have been taken in to the charity’s branches and rehoming centres every single day. Many centres are completely full up and some cats and kittens are living with foster parents while permanent homes are found.
The RSPCA is hoping that people who are thinking of getting a cat or a kitten will avoid answering adverts in newspapers or visiting pet shops, but to take home a rescue animal who desperately needs the chance to make a fresh start.
Although it’s important to remember that having a pet is a big commitment. You should speak to your parents and make sure they are happy to pay for food, vet bills and other things your new addition to the family would need to stay happy and healthy. Two cats - Molly and Justin came to the Warwickshire South and East branch of the RSPCA when their owner moved and was not able to take the two cats with them.

Four kittens were abandoned in a box in Colwyn Bay last month and were brought to the Bryn-y-Maen regional animal centre in North Wales. But the centre was completely full so they are currently living with fosterers while centre staff search for a permanent home.

Bonnie and Clyde from Central London and North East branch came in as abandoned kittens and they have been in foster care until now. They are gorgeous, purry cats who adore each other.

The cat in the video is Amber. Seven-year-old Amber has been at Little Valley Animal Shelter in Exeter for over a year. She was overweight when she was rescued by an RSPCA inspector but after a strict diet she is back down to an ideal size for her age and breed.
