Perth Zoo unveil new baby puggle

Zookeepers at Perth Zoo proudly showed off their newest arrival; an Echidna Puggle named Kai

The youngster, who spent the first two months of its life in its mother's pouch, weighed less than one gram when it was first born. It is now 526g, and still growing!

Kai's is living in a 'nursery burrow' at the moment, after its mother deposited it there when it started growing spikes.

Kai is only the sixth Echidna Puggle to be born at Perth Zoo.

The keepers are keen to know whether Kai is a boy or a girl, but won't find out until they are able to do a DNA test.
