Girl, 14, gets OK to sail round the world

Despite only being 14 Laura Dekker has been given the OK to sail around the world! 

A GIRL who was told she was too young to sail alone around the world has been told she can go now.

Laura Dekker, 14, from Holland, wanted to make the voyage last year but she was banned by a Dutch court. They were worried that she wouldn’t be safe and that she’d get behind with her schoolwork.

The teenager is wasting no time and will start her trip from Portugal in just two weeks with her new boat, Guppy.

Laura was actually born on a yacht in New Zealand when her parents were on a round-the-world trip.
