Should dog racing be banned?

Dog racing is a traditional British sport, but many people think that is is cruel. Some people think that it is cruel to make dogs run for sport and others are worried that the racing dogs will be put down when they are too old to race.
On retired racing dog, Flying Batman, has become a reading dog, helping children learn to read.
Do you think that dog racing should be banned?
