Should dangerous dogs be banned in the UK? Suggested by Derby 22

There have been a few dog attacks recently that you may have seen in the news.
They have been carried out by dogs who are considered by some people to be dangerous breeds. The type of breed that are thought of as vicious are pitbulls, alsatians and rottweilers, for example.
We wrote an article in the Crazy But True section about dangerous dogs being given DOGBOs (the canine equivalent of an ASBO) to help keep pedestrians safe from attacks.
But do you think their breed should be banned altogether? Or do you think that the fault lies with the owners who are raising their pets to be vicious?

Comments: They are threats to our safety, so it is not ok. Once, an alsation bit my dog, so I agree that they should be banned.

Comments: I agree with Lucozade it is the owners but some people do make mistakes or accidently hurt a vicious dog and it is these small accidents that can have horrible consequences such as serious injury or rarely death so i am voting to Ban dangerous dogs.

Comments: No dog is dangerous. It is the owners that make them dangerous. Not purposley but by not taking care of them. If you get a dog that is considered dangerous, then you can train it ti become good.

Comments: only some dogs who are brought up in the wrong way are dangerous. People think Pitballs and Alsations are dangerous, mainly because you see them in films being used as police dogs, and some think Alsations look like wolves, therefore are dangerous. But thats only a few. You may have heard the saying 'a dog is a man's best friend' and it is absolutely true. There is no such thing as a 'vicious breed', it is only very few individual dogs.
