Youngest person rows across the Atlantic
22-year-old Katie Spotz has become the youngest person to row across the Atlantic.
American 22-year-old Katie Spotz has become the youngest person ever to sail across the Atlantic ocean.
Katie Spotz managed to row across the Atlantic which is 2,817 miles in 70 days.
Katie was me by her family in Georgetown,Guyana, South America after having rowed through storms, shark infested water, potential pirate attacks and a boat fire.
It took Katie Spotz two years to raise the £60,000 that her journey cost.
Katie said that the hardest part was being bored and only eating dried food and energy bars:
"The hardest part was just the solo part," Katie said. "I would cook three dehydrated meals a day on a little stove. At night I would update my Facebook and e-mails. There is not much else to do on a row boat."
Katie rowed to raise money and awareness for Blue Planet Run Foundation, a non-profit organisation whose goal is to bring clean drinking water to the estimated 1 billion people worldwide who lack it.
