I think that "My way" is a really good campaign and I have actually been making a campaign with my friends at the moment. Here is an article I wrote about it... Follow the Leader... On 19th, 20th and 24th of November, 7 girls from my school got the chance to take part in “Your Turn”, a course for young, aspiring leaders, made by Common Purpose. What is your turn? The course aims to try and assist boys and girls, who are naturally good leaders or with leading potential, to improve and develop their leadership skills and to give them an opportunity to discover hidden talents and ability. School pupils from all over London were put forward and there was a great mix of culture and children from different backgrounds on the programme. My friends and I were all very excited to have been chosen by our school to participate and set off on the tube, with a teacher to accompany us, at eight o’clock on Thursday morning. Each “Your Turn” day was set at a different location and we had to plan the journey for both the morning and afternoon of each, which proved surprisingly challenging. What we did Over the duration of the course we got to visit the British Film Institute, where we were talked to by a journalist who works for the observer and competed in a Dragon’s den like competition, visit Islington library where we were taught by lawyers and got to compete in a controversial debate and finally, the East London Mosque, where we were visited by business men and woman who advised us on campaigns we were asked to devise in small group on any topic we thought was worth supporting in modern society. Campaigns My group, consisting of two other girls from my school (Isabelle and Ellie), developed a campaign called IME anorexia. It aims to help prevent anorexia in young people by making more children and teenagers aware of this eating disorder and by teaching them how to cope if a friend or class mate develops anorexia. If you would like to get involved or learn more about our campaign please visit our website; . Get Involved Courses like this are run all over the U.K and I would encourage everyone to try and get themselves and their schools involved in these projects. I hope in the near future I will get to report on another great event like this. By Marianna Spring, 13.
