We're national dance champions!

We're national dance champions!

We're national dance champions! We took part in the All England National Dance Finals with our dance school, Julie Sianne Theatre Arts, from Byfleet, Surrey.

We won six gold medals after coming first in six sections – Under 21s Song and Dance group, 15 and under Modern, Tap and Character Groups, 12 and under Modern and Song and Dance Groups. Our school also won silver medals for other groups – 12 and under Tap and 9 and under Modern.

Our younger sister, Liberty, also won a silver medal with a character ballet trio with her friends, Jade Marner and Olivia-Rose Aldridge.

There were other successes for Julie Sianne girls too with gold medals being picked up by Nicole Reardon, Maria Gregory, Isabelle Smart, Lucy Jones and Chloe Vanhinsbergh, a bronze for Lauren Ahm and many honours and special commendation awards.

The All England National Dance Finals are held every two years at the Peacock Theatre in London’s West End. They follow 21 months of qualifying heats and regional finals. This year 191 dance schools competed nationwide.

We’d like to thank all the mums (and dads) from Julie Sianne’s who drive us all to rehearsals and pay for all the costumes! And, of course, we’d especially like to thank Miss Julie, Mr Ray, Miss Jo and our class tap teacher, Miss Alison.

Our next performance will be at the Royal Albert Hall on 13 November for Dance Proms 2011.

Dance Proms sees the UK’s leading dance organisations working together like this for the first time: the International Dance Teachers’ Association (IDTA), Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD); and the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). There will be 25 acts performing, selected from 300 national entries. And we can’t wait!

Thanks to everyone at the Park Plaza Hotel County Hall for looking after us so well. The delicious breakfasts really set us up for a day of dancing!
