We broke the world record for hugging trees

Last year my family, best friend Sophie and I went down to Delamere Forest to break the world record for hugging trees. There were loads of people there and everyone was very excited.

Once we had registered our names, we gathered in groups of 50 and waited to be led into the forest to choose our tree to hug. Sophie and I chose a tree and everyone stood waiting for the countdown to break the world record.

This was the best part of the event as there were hundreds of voices and it sounded amazing.

We heard about the event through my mum, who works at Blakemere Craft Centre, who was also at the event on a stand telling people about events at Blakemere.

It was so nice to be able to take part in a world record so close to our home.

For taking part we got a wooden medal to prove we took part in the world record attempt for hugging a tree.
