Thousands of people have left their homes after a volcano began to erupt on the island of Sumatra.

Volcano erupts for first time in 400 years!

Thousands of people have left their homes after a volcano began to erupt on the island of Sumatra.

Mount Sinabung hasn’t erupted in 400 years. Lava is flowing out of the crater

and it has sent a cloud of ash 1.6km (one mile) into the air.

A 6km danger zone has been marked out and about 12,000 people who live in this area have been evacuated.

The ash has spread as far away as

32km from the volcano. There are worries that it could give people breathing problems.

Search and rescue team official Mohammad Wibisono said: “Many of the villagers evacuated were farmers and they said the ash had settled on their vegetable farms.”

There have been no reports of anyone missing or dying because of the volcano.

That is really serious and I am really glad that most people got away. I would be really scared if that happened to me especially if I had to evacuate and put on special masks to be able to breath. IT would also be really hard for children and adults with asthma like me, they would be finding it very hard to breath. Also how do you make your names go different colours and stuff like that?
