Two FIFA officials suspended over bribes scandal

Two FIFA officials suspended over bribes scandal

FIFA, the governing body of world football, has suspended two members of its Executive Committee who have been accused of offering bribes.

Mohamed Bin Hammam and Jack Warner have been banned from taking part in any football-related activity until an investigation is carried out, but they have both denied all charges against them.

The pair have been accused of offering packages of £24,000 to members of the Caribbean Football Union in exchange for votes. Bin Hammam was the only candidate opposing FIFA head Sepp Blatter in the upcoming election, but he has now withdrawn.

FIFA has had a tough year, as several of its officials were accused of asking for money to vote for England’s World Cup bid. Many in the game think that FIFA needs to reform so that all of their dealings can be open and clear.
