Toxicology report confirms no drugs in Amy Winehouse's system when she died

There was no illegal drugs in Amy Winehouse's system at the time of her death, a toxicology report has confirmed today.

A toxicology report has found that there were no illegal drugs in Amy Winehouse's system on the day that she died.

A spokesperson for the Winehouse family said today: "Results indicate that alcohol was present but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death.

"The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process.

"They await the outcome of the inquest in October."

Amy Winehouse was found dead at her home in Camden on Saturday 23 July. 

The singing star had won Brit and Grammy awards but had struggled for years with drink and drug addiction. She had been trying to get better in a clinic.

    Really? It could actually still be the drugs overuse from previous years though, because it could have a long term effect on her! It could be alcohol maybe? Or maybe she just collapsed suddenly. I wonder what it was...?

    wonder what she died from? lots of possibilities- probably all being investigated. will be interesting to find out her cause of death. shame she died so young- the world lost a great talent. my thoughts are with her family. rip amy. xxxxxxx
