The direction a dog wags their tail shows how happy it is, scientists say

Scientists have discovered that the direction in which a dog wags its tail can reveal how friendly it is.

Animal psychologists from the University of Victoria in Canada got a life-sized robot of a black labrador with a mechanical tail and filmed 500 dogs approaching it. They discovered that when the robot pooch wagged its tail to the left hand side of its body, the real dogs were less wary than when it wagged it to the right. They believe this proves that wagging their tails to the left is a doggy sign of being friendly.
