Ten-year-olds allowed to use guns
Ten-year-olds allowed to
use guns
The BBC has discovered that more than 1,000 children under 18 in the East of England hold licences to use a gun.
Anti-gun campaigners want the law changed. At the moment a child aged ten can hold a shotgun licence, and a 14-year-old can hold a firearms licence.
A Gun Control spokesperson
said: “If a gun is in a house people are far more likely to be affected by a gun injury.”
Andrew Clifton, of Sporting Targets Shooting Club, said: “We are a recreation and we support youngsters to do it in a controlled and disciplined manner.”
