Teachers in Scotland warned about using Twitter and Facebook
Teachers in Scotland are being warned about using Twitter and Facebook by the Scottish Secondary Teachers Association.
They believe too much information can be revealed on the networking sites, which could lead to teachers becoming too familiar with pupils.
New guidelines for teachers on social networking are being drawn up.

My mum is a teacher and she wanted to get back in touch with somebody on Twitter from a foreign country but all of her pupils kept on trying to see her so she decided to shut her account down just because of this! I think that she is totally correct in doing this!

I understand what they mean. After all, say if a teacher put that they had a favourite student and then the headteacher read it then the teacher would probably get fired

Why? That's just silly! What if the teachers chat with their friends on facebook or twitter? That's mean!

I've seen my science teacher have an internet tab on the Facebook page! Why should they have it? The pupils could add them as friends which would be ridiculous!

Some great comments here!!! I have twitter and think its great!! Teachers should just be careful about what they say!! You can send private messages on twitter that pupils cant read!!!

I don't think this is fair that teachers aren't allowed twitter or facebook because teachers are as important as children so they should get to have one. But teachers should be careful in what they put for childen at their school could be finding out things that teachers don't want the children to know.
