Stunning swimmers

Britain’s swimmers have had their best-ever performance at the European Championships.

They won a total of 18 medals in Budapest, Hungary, which is five better than any other British team has managed at this event.

Fran Halsall was the star of the team, winning five medals in total. Her tally included two golds, in the 100m freestyle and 4x100m relay.

The men’s half of the team has some way to go before they catch up to the women: only three of the 18 medals were won by men. Liam Tancock won two, including silver in the 50m backstroke.
