Search for survivors continues on cruise ship Costa Concordia

At least six people have died after a cruise ship hit some rocks and sank.

The Costa Concordia began to sink after it hit some underwater rocks in Isola del Giglio harbour in Tuscany.

The boat was carrying over 4,000 people when it hit the rocks and sank.

The ship's captain Captain Francesco Schettino has been arrested. He said that the rocks weren't marked on his map, but he has been accused of not following safety procedures.

It's been said that the captain had made 'errors of judgment' as he tried to steer the ship into the harbour, but other reports say that he was showing off and waving to a friend.

"It seems that the commander made errors of judgement that had serious consequences," said a statement from the liner's owner Costa Crociere.

Divers are checking the cabins and trying to find more survivors. At least six people have died and 14 more are still missing.

    I read about that in my Granny's newspaper!!!! I hope that they all get found alive! I'm actually freaked out about it now!!!!!!!!!! :S

    The captain just escaped and left all his passengers drowning! I think its terrible.

    its really sad :( i hope they find all of the missing people...and i wonder what will happen to the ship. i had a look on youtube and found a ship tour and its an amazing ship but what will happen to it all?

    OMG! That is crazy, and the captain is just stupid for leaving the boat before his passengers manage to get on the lifeboats. If he had of made sure that everything was fine and in order before he left the ship, those people wouldn't have died!

    he wasn't a very reliable captain if he abandoned ship before the passengers he should be jailed for his actions because he was showing off, thats the reason it crashed

    That captain was soo selfish, its part of the captains job to stay on the boat til everyone is safely off and apparently he just tripped and "fell" into a lifeboat which obviously meant he was more worried about himself tham others. He should go to prison for a very long time I really feel sorry for everyone thats died or is missing and i feel sorry for their families aswell it wasnt their fault :(
