RSPCA lists its funniest ever calls

With the new year starting, the RSPCA have released a list of the funniest calls they received in 2009.

The RSPCA emergency line operates 24 hours. Its aim is to provide emergency advice and sometimes rescue for sick, injured and abused animals. However, sometimes calls come through that aren’t urgent. The charity have listed a few of their favourites, including someone who reported a seagull looking sad because it was sitting in the rain and a lady asking the RSPCA to rescue a spider from her sink!

While these calls may sound pretty funny, it’s important to remember that the line is for emergency use.

    All seagulls ever do is look sad or pinch your food and why not turn on the tap and wash the spider down the sink if it can swim it would not get hurt.

    Not long ago some wierdo rang 999 cus there snow man melted!!! if it was snowy der r much more important emergancies so dont waste der time! I also read dat a lil boy in usa rang911 cus his big sis wont let him on du pc the emergancie services in usa arranged for some peeps to give him schooling in wat an emergancy is!     Funny, but picture this: a rare species is injured and someone calls up just before it is spotted to say a spider's in their bath. The creature could die! People need to stop wasting the RSPCA's time, so that they can send help urgently!!!

    it maybe funny 4 da vet but it would waste there time. people should call rspca 4 serious stuff! im adopting a cat soon from da rspca or cats protection. I love animals and i no this is wierd but i felt guilty when i accidently squished a spider once. hi beetle!

    There was a litter of kittens and their mum living in a gap under a shed that had to be kept secret because if the owners of the shed found out, the cats would be gassed to death. I tried to phone the RSPCA to see if they could help, but I was put on hold for 45 minutes only to then be told that "there is no one available to take your call at the moment" or something like that. Now I know that it could have been a silly person getting hysterical about a spider that stopped those cats from being saved... grr.
