Tell us about the film Ponyo…

The movie is about a goldfish named Ponyo who becomes friends with a little boy, and later wants to become a human girl.

What’s Sosuke, the character you provide the voice for, like?

Sosuke is a little kid who becomes good friends with Noah Cyrus’ character, Ponyo, who plays the little goldfish.

How did you get involved in the film?

They asked me to audition. It was my first audition but I wasn’t nervous.

 What audition tips would you give to other kids?

I would tell them to do the best they can and don’t be nervous.

What was the hardest part of the process?

I guess the hardest part was probably saying the same line over and over again so they can pick the perfect one to go in the movie.

Is it weird just providing a voice?

No, it wasn’t weird at all. It was cool!

What surprised you most about making an animation?

It was like a comic book coming to life on a giant movie screen.

Was it hard juggling the film and school?

No. I am homeschooled so it lets me be flexible in my schedule.

What did your brothers say when they found out you had got the part?

They were really happy for me and supportive.

Did they give you any acting tips?

They always tell me to do my best.

Miley Cyrus’ sister, Noah, also voices one of the characters in the film. Are you friends?

Noah and I were friends before the movie so it was really cool to get to work with her. We usually play video games together or just talk.

Have you got any plans to be a pop star like your famous brothers?

Well, I don’t know about a popstar but I have my own band and I definitely want to continue doing films.

Do you mind being called Bonus Jonas?

No, I think it’s cool to have a nickname.

Would you like to join the Jonas Brothers when you’re older?

I think when I’m older I’ll be doing some of my own things but you never know what will happen…

What are you up to next?

We start taping the next season of our Disney channel show JONAS. I play Frankie. I’d love to do an action- adventure movie, I’d also love to be a Marvel Super Hero!
