Pyjama day for Ascot Junior School

Pyjama day for Ascot Junior School

Earlier this year, LVS Ascot Junior School pupils had a nice lie in… rolled out of bed and arrived at school, as pyjamas were the uniform for the day.

The fun day, arranged by Year 6 pupils on the School Council, was a fundraising event to support Christopher’s Smile – a children’s cancer charity that pays for researchers to find a new treatment for children’s cancers, hopefully without side effects.

The charity was launched by the parents of a boy who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of four. When Christopher died, his parents wanted to prevent the tragedy happening to as many children as it does, or making sure that the treatments used are as up-to-date as possible.

Cameron, Charlotte and Amy, representatives on the Council, said: “we wanted to raise money for our charity in a way that the whole school could join in with, so pupils paid a £1 to wear their PJs and slippers to school”.

“Some have worn their dressing gowns and brought in their teddies too!”

Lessons continued as normal and lunch in the dining hall was a strange sight, but as over £254.35 was raised, even the staff in their Dalmatian spotted pyjamas enjoyed the spirit of the day.
