Pupils given sleep lessons
Pupils are being given sleep lessons after a survey found that teenagers don't get enough sleep
Schools in Glasgow are offering sleep lessons to pupils after finding out that many pupils get less than four hours sleep a night.
The classes being run by the sleep charity Sleep Scotland teach pupils about the health benefits of getting at least 9 hours sleep per night, and why you shouldn't take gadgets such as mobile phones, laptops and games consoles to bed with you.
Sleep Scotland says that a good night's sleep improves your school work and sports ability, while not getting enough increases the risk of obesity, depression, attention problems and hyperactivity.
Jane Ansell, director of Sleep Scotland, said: "You wouldn't send somebody to school without having the right amount of food, so why would you send them without enough sleep?"
Sleep expert Dr Neil Stanley says that every school should offer sleep lessons: "The Government spends millions of pounds teaching children about diet and exercise and it's bizarre that sleep is left out.
"Every month we get more information showing that poor sleep has major consequences, from the higher risk of obesity and depression to academic performance. It accounts for a lot of ill health and a lot of behavioural problems."

I would love to have sleep lessons as when you reach the middle of the week you start to get tired and you lose your concentration and then your education fails. I hope my school brings in sleep lessons.

I think it is a great idea, I do not like the sound of short breaks though

I think that that is a bad idea as the teacher don't have to work and are being payed for it and that most people won't get to sleep as there friends will keep laughing and keeping the class awake. I think that it is down to the children to get enough sleep or not.

im not sure i mean people at the age of 10 should go to bed at about 9 and at 14, about 10 waste of time when you could be learning something

I think that it's not a sensible idea at all. The teachers get paid to teach academic studies such as English, Mathamatics, Science... etcetera. Besides, it is down to you and your parents what time you go to bed. If you decide to stay up until midnight, that's your call.

Cool! You wouldn't have to work as hard. I think the goverment is stupid bringing this in for it's a waste of time but cool for children
