Poppy puppy rescued from 300ft cliff fall

Poppy the spaniel puppy survives cliff fall - watch the video!

Watch the raw footage taken by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution crew who rescued a puppy who fell off the cliff...

Poppy the springer spaniel puppy fell 300ft off a cliff and survived, thanks to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

Poppy was chasing a seagull when she ran over the edge of the 300ft cliff and fell into the water below. She swam to the shore and was rescued by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution crew.

Stephen Winslade who was walking her at the time said: "She is really well trained and well behaved but I think she ran so fast there was no chance of her stopping. I threw myself down and looked over the edge and saw her paddling. I could see there was a beach she was heading for."

Royal National Lifeboat Institution rescue crew member who helped to save Poppy said: "She was shivering – she was cold and nervous but apart from that she was as good as gold. Myself and another crew member have both got springer spaniels ourselves so we were very relieved. Springer spaniels tend to get excited and I believe she was chasing a seagull at the time. That’s why we always recommend keeping dogs on a lead on the cliffs."

Do you think that Poppy's owners should have got in trouble for not having her on a lead? Has your dog done anything crazy? leave a comment below and let us know...
