Pig asked to vote in the election
A pet pig was accidentally sent an invitation in the post asking it to vote in the parliamentary election.
The Wealden District Council sent out the election letter to the pig, called Blossom, by mistake, the Daily Telegraph has reported.
The letter, which was sent to Blossom's pig sty, Pig Flats, contained a registration form allowing the pet to cast its vote in the election. So, it seems that while children are considered too young to vote, the pig was given the chance to have its say!
Blossom's owner, 73-year-old Pauline Grant, was astonished to hear the letter had arrived, and while she thought her pet pig was indeed a clever animal, she said "politics might be a bit complicated for her!".
Despite receiving the letter, it seems Blossom didn't make the most of her bizarre voting opportunity. A spokesperson for the local council has said, "I can confirm no pigs voted in the area last week."
