Philippines hit by rat fever outbreak
The Philippines has been hit by a deadly outbreak of rat fever since the floods.
A deadly outbreak of rat fever has hit the flood-hit southern Philippines.
300 people have been diagnosed with rat fever, and eight have died.
Rat fever is a fatal disease carried by rats. It causes high-fever, internal bleeding and organ failure.
The people who have died are thought to have either waded in, or drank the flood water.
Over 1200 people were killed by tropical storm Washi which hit the country in mid December, causing high winds and floods.
