Peter Andre presents awards
Pop star and children’s author Peter Andre handed out story writing awards to London schoolchildren in a special ceremony last week.
Pupils from 18 London primary schools were given the awards for stories they wrote describing what they liked about where they live.
Their stories were created for a writing competition, which was organised by Transport for London and the Mayor of London as part of the ‘Big WoW’, a month-long walking relay for primary schools, which took place last year. Its aim was to encourage children to walk to school and to make walking a part of their lifestyle from an early age.
The winning schools were: Matilda Marks Kennedy, Moss Hall Junior School, Deansbrook Infant School, Bedonwell Infant School, St Joseph’s RC Primary School, Davidson Primary School, Avenue House School, Walker Primary School, Heathfield School, Gayhurst Primary, Queensbridge Primary School, Harlyn Primary School, Belmont Primary, Kaizen Primary School, Apex Primary School, Park School for Girls, L’Ecole De Battersea and Cheam Common Infant School.
The writing competition was part of the Mayor of London’s efforts to improve literacy in London.
