Pandas are being sent to survival school

Pandas are being sent to survival school in an attempt to stop them from being wiped out. hut do you think that we should save the pandas?

Giant pandas are going to be taught how to live in the wild and look after themselves, at survival school.

The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is building the special centre
at a cost of £6 million.

Giant pandas are an endangered species with 300 in captivity in China and only 1,600 in the wild.

At the centre, the pandas will first spend a couple of years in cages, and then move into caves. Here they will learn how to forage, or search, for food in their surroundings. Next, the pandas will be moved to a forest area where they will have less human contact. Finally, it is hoped the bears will move to a nature reserve where they can live on their own. This process could take as long as 15 years.

Some people however don't think that we should save the pandas. BBC wildlife presenter, Chris Packham, claims pandas are not strong enough to survive on their own. He thinks the millions of pounds spent protecting them would be better spent on other animals.

“Unfortunately pandas are big and cute and they are a symbol of the World Wildlife Fund,” says Chris. “I reckon we should pull the plug. Let them go.”

What do you think? Do you think we should save the pandasVote in our poll or leave a comment below to let us know.

Please, read this comment: I think it is very important for pandas beeing cared of. But how they treat them is horrible! 1st: never ever put pandas in cages for A COUPLE OF YEARS!! 2nd: Why should they builed a gigantic Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is building the special centre at a cost of £6 million!? that is not necessessary! theyt need people to care about them and not leave them by there own completely in 15 YEARS!! tat's too much I dare say! 3rd: The briliant idea I had was to make a big area in a country adapted to them for letting them breath. There would be researches on their health and safaries where people could somehow discover their race (stroke them, caress them, feed them, also there would be of course keepers who would be payed for keeping on sight at the pandas thankyou for reading and I think it's very important
