Over 12 million tune into to first X Factor

Over 10 million tune into first X Factor

Despite what the critics predicted, 10.5 million people tuned into watch the first episode of this year's series of The X Factor, over the weekend.

With the mass departure of Dannii Minogue, Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell from the X Factor judging panel, many critics believed that fewer people would tune into to watch this year's series of the hit talent show. 

However, Saturday's opening show, which saw new judges Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland and Tulisa Contostavlos, along with original judge Louis Walsh, take to the X Factor judging panel, was watched by 10.5 million people! 

Although the viewing figures may have been good, the opening show faced mixed reviews from the critics.

    I watched it. That guy at the end was behaving atrociously! And he said he'd come to clear his name! :)

    I agree red! That part was HILARIOUS, apart from that Tulisa looked REALLY offended when he swore at her :(

    Great show! That Chinese woman was SO funny! OMG, you're right, red and rockgirl, that guy was AWFUL! I liked Janet and Kitty. Remember that guy with the tattoos on his bum?
