One less sausage a day can stop climate change and the greenhouse effect
Skip a sausage and save the planet
If every person in Britain ate one less sausage a day climate change could be stopped, says a report in a medical journal called The Lancet.
Top scientists claim that skipping a sausage would reduce the number of animals bred for meat by 30%.
This would cut down on the amount of energy used to breed the animals, transport them from the farm to the supermarket and to turn them into meat.
This energy produces the gases carbon dioxide, methane, CFCs and nitrous oxide which act like glass in a greenhouse, magnifying the sun’s rays and stopping them from escaping the Earth. This makes the planet hotter and is sometimes called the greenhouse effect.
If the planet keeps getting hotter eventually the sea levels will rise, some species of animals will migrate to colder climates or will die, and we will get extreme weather like hurricanes and floods.
However, not everyone agrees that giving up meat will stop climate change and the greenhouse effect. Professor Ian Crute, who works with the UK meat industry, said: "A large fall in meat eating or turning vegetarian is not the solution to climate change. It would make only a small difference to greenhouse gas emissions.”

This is rubbish. If everyone stopped eating meat, our countryside would be wrecked to make way for crops. We would have no forests, no rugged wilderness, no dramatic, no truly wild creatures except for those in nature parks. Instead there would just be mile upon mile of vegatables and plants, which would have to be meticulously cared for to feed the millions of vegatarians. Yes, farm animals wouldn't have to be slaughtered, but instead we would slaughter the true beauty of Britain, the places which man hasn't messed up. The idea of killing cute pigs and cows may sound bad, but it is only the same as what a lion would do. in the wild, a sheep would never reach old age, and if it did, its wool would be so thick it would die of heat and its teeth would grow so long it wouldn't be able to eat. The same thing happens to deer's teeth. It is harsh, but it is nature, and though nature is beautiful it can be cruel. Instead the main thing is that the animal has had a good life before it died, not crammed in some horrible cage like poor broiler chickens. It is good to eat meat, just as long as you do it responsibly.

1. I want to try and stop climate change.2. I love animals.3. I love sausages.4. and I do not understand how giving up a sausage a day will help.I find it fair for animals but not for carnivores because there will be millions of Vegatarians around .For omnivores it will be ok.Vegatatarians . well they will be in heaven . all the veg.As I am an omnivore I will find it ok. But a sausage .If you want to see how much I like sausages see point 3.
