News crew: my brother and I won a Legoland competition, by Joshua Gill
We won the competition in First News to design a flag for the new pirate ride at Legoland.
I had got some pirate Lego for Christmas so my brother, Timmy, and I built a Lego pirate ship and my sister, Grace, drew the pirate at his wheel. We all helped with the colouring in and used lots of bright LEGO colours.
We arrived early at LEGOLAND Windsor and got to go into the park before all the other visitors! We were given a quick tour of the new attraction, Pirates Landing, and then I got to hoist my flag right next to the new Jolly Rocker Swinging Ship ride, with a bit of help from LEGO character Green Brick and Timmy and Grace too!
Our design looked great on the flag and it was really big.
It was amazing to see our Jolly Roger flying above all the pirates while the Guinness World Record attempt took place the same morning – LEGOLAND Windsor were going for the record of the largest gathering of pirates and there were hundreds of people in costume in Pirates Landing!
As part of our day we got Qbots so we got to go on all the best rides without queuing – that was amazing. Our favourite rides were the Laser Raiders and Viking River Splash which we got very wet on!
We also got some LEGO Loot to spend in the Big Shop. I chose Star Wars and Atlantis Lego sets.
It was a great prize, thank you First News and LEGOLAND Windsor.
