New home for albino baby seal rejected by her family
A rare albino seal pup has found a new home at an aquarium after being rejected by her colony.
Nafanya, as she has been named, was shunned by the rest of her colony because of her eye-catching colour and bright blue eyes. The rest of the seals are black.
She was found all alone and huddled under a pile of logs at Tyuleniy Island in Russia. Luckily for Nafanya, her picture was taken by photographer Anatoly Strakhov and she became headline news as people fell in love with her.
Nafanya was flown 12,700km to her new home at the Aktvatoria dolphinarium in Russia. Nafanya has a special new enclosure with her own pool and all the fish she could want. Staff at the centre say she is a happy pup who is eating well.
Less than two weeks after she arrived, she is already proving a huge attraction at the park, with people flocking to see the ginger star. In fact, she is so popular all over the world that a special webcam has been set up so everyone can see Nafanya play.
You can watch her live daily between 7am and 1pm on www.nafanya-sochi.ru – although beware that the site is in Russian!
