New Doctor Who series a hit with viewers

The new series of Doctor Who started this week, and more then eight million viewers tuned in to see the 11th actor to play the Doctor star in his first episode. 

The dramatic opening scene of the episode called The Eleventh Hour saw the new Doctor hurtling to Earth, clinging onto the door of the Tardis. The opening episode also unveiled the new look Tardis for this series. 


Matt Smith is the youngest actor ever to play the Time Lord. He has already spoken out about his enthusiasm for the show and how he hopes to continue as the Doctor for many series.

 

Fans reacted well to the new show with one stating on an online forum: “Best opening episode. Ever.”
