Murray floors Federer

Andy Murray came out on top against Roger Federer again last week, as he beat him in the final of the Shanghai Masters.

Murray won the final 6-3, 6-2 to take his second title of the year. The win also took his season’s prize money over the $3m mark.

The Scottish star has now beaten Federer in two finals in a row, and has won eight of the 13 matches that they have played against each other.

“I don’t find it easy at all,” said Murray. “It’s incredibly difficult every time. But I love the challenge of playing against him. I don’t fear playing him. Every time I go on, I know I need to play great tennis to win against him.”

Federer made lots of unforced errors, but Murray also said that his own second serve was a crucial factor. Murray won 56% of his second serve points, compared to Federer’s 23%.

“I’m very happy with where my game is at,” said Federer. “Today could have been better. But, look, Andy was the best player of the tournament, so he deserved it.”

Serbian player Ana Ivanovic was also celebrating this week, after winning her first tournament for two years. After reaching the final of the Generali Ladies event in Austria, Ivanovic hammered Patty Schnyder 6-1, 6-2 to take home the trophy.
