Mother orangutan cuddles her terrified baby

This amazing picture shows a mother orangutan cuddling her terrified baby after narrowly escaping death.

The pair were rescued by the animal charity FOUR PAWS while they were being hunted by men who were being paid to catch and kill them.

The rescue team for FOUR PAWS had been investigating the use of hired men to capture and kill wild orangutans, when they came across the scene. The mother and the baby were huddled together and surrounded by the hunters.

The hunters were being paid to remove the animals from the area to make way for palm oil companies to chop down their habitat. The rescue team arrived just in time and the mother and baby were saved and relocated to a remote part of the rainforest.
