More unrest in Syria
There are fears that violence in Syria will get worse, after a peace plan was rejected.
The Arab League (an organisation of Arab states, including Egypt, Iraq and Saudi Arabia) had put forward a plan for Syria’s President, Bashar al-Assad, to hand over power to his deputy. This was rejected by Syria.
Meanwhile, violence between troops and anti-government protestors continued. BBC Middle East Editor Jeremy Bowen said on Twitter: “It’s not a war in Syria, but in places it’s starting to look like one.”
