Man smuggles monkey

A MAN has been arrested in Mexico for trying to smuggle 18 monkeys into the country.

Roberto Cabrera flew into Mexico City’s airport from Lima, Peru, with 18 baby titi monkeys hidden under his T-shirt. He had stored the monkeys in a special girdle, but airport authorities became suspicious when they noticed a strange bulge under his clothes.

Staff then conducted a full body search on Mr Cabrera and found the animals. Unfortunately, two of the six-inch tall monkeys had died on their journey to Mexico.

Mr Cabrera told police he had originally stored the monkeys in a suitcase but took them out in case x-rays used to scan luggage hurt the animals.
