Madonna to open girls' school in Africa

US popstar Madonna took her adopted African daughter Mercy James to visit Africa where she is opening a girls' school. Read more below..

 

Madonna, her adopted daughter Mercy James and daughter Lourdes took part in a brick-laying ceremony to celebrate the $15million girls' school Madonna is building in Africa.

The girls' school is in Malawi and will be called the Raising Malawi Academy for Girls, and will have 450 pupils.

Madonna hopes that educating children in Malawi will help the country to grow and be able to help itself in the future.

It has been said that Madonna will be taking her two adopted children Mercy James and David Banda to meet members of their family when they are in Africa.
