Lord of the Rings fan Kate Madison enjoyed Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy so much that she made another film. Her Lord of the Rings film, Born of Hope, is set before Peter Jackson’s trilogy which was a massive box office hit.

Born of Hope cost £25,000 to make compared to over £150million for the official Lord of the Rings films. To raise the money Kate Madison used £8,000 of her own life savings, asked for donations on YouTube and got a job as an office temp to raise the rest.

Born of Hope used more than 400 actors and extras who gave their time for free. Kate Madison also played the part of Elgarain the forest ranger herself.

Since the movie was released online it has been watched by over 500,000 people. The movie can only be watched online and is free.
