Looting lemurs go for a drink in a bar

Two crafty lemurs escaped from their zoo enclosure and embarked upon a week-long crime spree in a nearby Austrian village. After a week of reckless behaviour, the pair were caught trying to get a drink in a bar.

The primates, who live at Hellbrunn Zoo in Salzburg, made a dash for it when a keeper entered their enclosure, leaving the door open behind him.

Once free, the troublesome duo tore through a nearby village, ransacking residents washing lines and terrorising the locals’ pets.

After a week on the loose, the lemurs wandered into a hotel bar and to the surprise of the manager, started playing with bottles of drink.

Manager Andreas Hasenohrl, said: “It looked like they were looking for something to drink.” Hasenohrl gave the pair a banana to keep them distracted and returned the pesky primates to their enclosure.
