Libyan Prime Minister confirms that Gaddafi is dead
Libya's Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril has confirmed that Colonel Gaddafi has 'died from wounds' after a battle with NATO forces in Sirte.
The former Libyan leader Colonel Colonel Muammar Gaddafi died after being wounded in an attack by National Transitional Council (NTC) fighters in his home town of Sirte.
Mahmoud Jibril told a press conference: "We have been waiting for this moment for a long time. Muammar Gaddafi has been killed."
Gaddafi was found hiding in an underground drain after being shot in the head and legs during the attack.
One of Gaddafi's sons Mutasim was also killed during the attack, but another of his sons, Saif al-Islam, is still on the run.
Two other of Gaddafi's sons, Khamis and Seif al-Arab were killed alongside three of the dictator's grandchildren in previous NATO airstrikes.
Col Gaddafi has been in power for more than 40 years. But protestors want him out and have been fighting to take control of their country. The rebels managed to take control of a lot of Libya’s main towns but then Gaddafi started fighting back, killing many people.

SuperStar9 (Age 10) wrote on Friday, 21 October 2011 @ 16:28
They shouln't of shot him. Yes he was cruel and yes I agree he was nasty and all that but there are more mature ways of dealing with it than shooting. This happened with that other terrorist guy. Is the world ever going to change????

PinkBoden - yes, there were actually pictures on the news. :|

This is a chance for Libya to change - when Bin Laden was shot, I first thought it was wrong, until I found out about what he did, like 9/11. It's the same with Gadaffi. He deserved to be shot, he was cruel to Libya. He was a dictator, meaning that Libya did not choose him to rule the country, and he's also a colonel. You couldn't lock him in prison, because loads of people manage to escape from prison and, anyway, Libya wanted him dead, not simply living a bad life, just like they did. They didn't want him to feel how they did, they, and the rest of the world, wanted worse for the terrible things he did to Libya, and this is a chance for Libya to change for better.

He hurt many others and so if they just put him in prison they would not get real revenge, he deserves everything he got. HE is a terrable dictator and its good that he can no longer do such bad things. It's great that him and bin laden are both dead. But, there will be people out there who feel vengeful and maybe there will be more trouble in the future...
kicky105 (Age 12) wrote on Saturday, 22 October 2011 @ 14:39
Superstar9 and jef20, I think he died in battle. They mostly try to capture people alive.
Wolfbruv (Age 12) wrote on Saturday, 22 October 2011 @ 20:08
They should have questioned him then locked him in prison not executed him infront of people!! There were pictures in the newspaper of him battered and covered in blood! It looked horrible for him! SuperStar9 the other guy was osama bin-laden.

I think they should have taken Gadaffi to court, not have shot him puvlicly in the temple, the gut and the leg.
spicegal16 (Age 12) wrote on Tuesday, 25 October 2011 @ 16:04
I think that the pics were DISGUSTING and soooooooo sad but if they put him in prison then the people that were fighting with him might break him out of jail.
