Late ducklings rescued by centre
DUCKLINGS are normally a sign of spring and summer, but a brood of late ducklings is bringing smiles to the staff at Mallydams Wildlife Centre in Hastings.
The cute flock was found on a private pond in East Sussex and was rounded up and brought to the RSPCA Centre. The concerned animal lover was worried they wouldn’t be able to survive the cold weather, which was confirmed by the staff at the Mallydams.
The ducklings are being fed on a special diet to build them up for the winter. They were just a few days old when they were found, so are learning how to waterproof their feathers and look after themselves with the help of heat lamps and water. When they are old enough to survive on their own, they will be re-released at the pond where they were found!
