Korea chosen to host Winter Olympics
The mountain town of Pyeongchang in Korea will be hosting the 2018 Winter Olympics
A banner reading 'Invite you to Pyeongchang in 2018' hangs over Pyeongchang after the mountain resort in Korea was picked to host the 2018 Winter Olympics.
The resort is in a festive mood after its third bid for the 2018 Winter Olympics was successful after two failed bids.
President Lee Myung-bak is said to hope that the win will set Korea up as a a reputable country for sports, and boost the economy.
“It is a victory for Korea and the Korean people,” he said. “There were so many people who have worked hard behind the scenes to support our activities. I’m really happy that we’ve won.”
