Kids at our school, St James the Great Primary and Nursery, took the Healthy Challenge and felt the benefits of an active, balanced lifestyle.
In 2008 we did the Healthy Challenge (now called Small Steps 4 Life).
Each class had a healthy thing to do for four weeks. Nursery kids had to drink some water every day; key stage 1 had to do aerobics for ten minutes each day; and key stage 2 had to walk a mile a day. Every week we used our journal to write about how we felt. By the end of the four weeks everyone felt fitter.
We have continued lots of the things we learned and now to keep healthy we sing during assembly. Singing makes us feel good and breathing deeply is good for us too. The teachers now let us do exercise between lessons and there is fruit to buy at break time. We all really want to do the challenge again but our walk route will be different because we have moved to our
new school!
