Justin Bieber fans cyberbully Selena Gomez

Justin Bieber fans have been sending nasty messages to Selena Gomez. First News showbiz blogger Jack Cyrus explains why below...

Angry Justin Bieber fans have been sending nasty messages and cyberbullying Selena Gomez after rumours leaked out that the pair were dating.

It is rumoured that Justin Bieber bought Selena Gomez a diamond bracelet for Christmas and that they met up on holiday in St. Lucia. 

18-year-old Disney star Selena hasn't responded to these nasty messages, but reports say she has reported the offenders to Twitter and that the messages have been removed from the website.

Making cruel remarks on the internet is wrong and authorities take it very seriously. Not only is it extremely unkind, under American law Selena Gomez could press charges against these people.

Former prosecuting lawyer Robin Sax told E! news that "Selena Gomez could file a police report and get the ball rolling on an FBI investigation.

"The offending Tweeter could end up facing a felony (criminal) conviction, with jail time resulting..."

Not all 'Beliebers' are angry. Some have said that 'true fans' would be happy for Justin and Selena.

Selena's fans have also take Twitter to show their support for the singer, leaving messages such as "Omg some of the things 'Beliebers' have been saying to poor @selenagomez are awful, it makes me wanna cry."

The moral of this story: think very careful before you post things on the internet. Even if someone is a celebrity, you can really hurt their feelings with your comments. Think how you would feel if it was said to you, and if you would say something to someone's face before posting it on the internet.

    That is so so so sad. she is just like any other 18 year old girl and any other 18 year old girl should not get bullied either. I feel so glad that I have not been bullied but unfortunately a lot of people have and that is soooo sad :-( xxx

    That's horrid! Just because everyone's in love with Justin Bieber. They shouldn't be making people's lives a misery just because of a celebrity crush. And that's all it is, it's not like any Justin Bieber fan would actually get the chance to meet him or anything...it's ridiculous!
