John Terry stripped of England captaincy
The England football manager, Fabio Capello, has taken the captaincy away from Chelsea's John Terry.
Terry has been the focus of several stories in the media about his private life, and Capello said that he had to think about what was best for "all of the England squad". Capello said that Terry had always displayed "extremely positive behaviour" as England captain.
As well as the recent allegations about Terry and Wayne Bridge's ex-girlfriend, there has also been a string of negative stories in the papers about Terry and his parents. These have all added to the bad publicity surrounding the player.
The England vice-captain, Rio Ferdinand, is expected to take over the role of captain.
