Is the Olympics torch coming near your house?

MOST people will be within ten miles of the Olympic torch as it makes its way to the Olympic Stadium next year.

More than 1,000 communities will have torchbearers carrying the Olympic flame through their streets. The announcement this week of the villages, towns and cities on the route shows that the torch will be within an hour of nearly everybody’s homes.

Its journey will begin on 19 May at Land’s End. Then, 8,000 miles and 70 days later, it will arrive at the Olympic Stadium on 27 July for the lighting of the cauldron at the opening ceremony, signifying the official start of the London 2012 Olympic Games. A location for each day is shown on our map.

You can log on now to the website below for an interactive map and, by putting in your postcode, find out exactly when and where the Olympic torch will be carried near you.
